Cooper James is proudly from Tucson Arizona where he grew up skating and filming it. He perused a degree in commercial photography before pivoting and graduating from the University of Arizona’s film program. During that time he got his start working at Arizona Public Media where he was the first student to win a Rocky Mountain Emmy® (yes it’s on a shelf, yes it’s embarrassing I have seen it).

Following his passion for Narrative film he headed to Los Angeles in 2014. Since then he was the personal assistant to an ASC cinematographer. He has shot dozens of short films screening at festivals around the world. He has shot (literally) Hundreds of sketches for Collegehumor, as well as Funny or Die and Comedy Central. He’s helmed the 9 episode Space Opera/Comedy Troopers and the Campy 90s Power Ranger-esk series Ultramechatron Team Go! for the streaming platform Dropout.

He has worked on Commercial and Branded projects with Hasbro, Squirt, Lexus, Nissan, Universal Pictures, Sony, and Apple TV+ He does not have representation so feel free to cold email him (he loves that).
